We will need to find out more about your system to determine the cause of the problem, so we'll email you off-line to try to get to the bottom of this.

Sorry about that; I sent an email to an address that I thought was yours but it must have disappeared into the ether.

We are currently trying to look into the problem you reported while running Orca3D under Rhino 5 (32-bit) under Windows 7 x64. I wanted to confirm a few things and ask a few questions:

1.   What  version of Rhino 5 are you running? The date of the beta can be found on the splash screen you see when you run the program. It can also be viewed by selecting Help | About Rhinoceros… from the menu.
2.   The latest version of Rhino 5 is 8-Nov-2010 and can be downloaded at http://download.rhino3d.com/rhino/5.0/wip. Does the error still occur on this version?
3.   You are running a 32-bit version of Rhino 5 on 64-bit Windows 7, correct?
4.   Is there a brief set of steps that can be performed to reproduce the error? Is it as simple as “create the deault sailboat from the wizard and try to run Hydrostatics?”
5.   If not, is there an example file you could send to us which we could use to reproduce the error?
6.   What version of Orca3D are you running? This can be determined by selecting Orca3D | Help | About Orca3D from the menu.
7.   Is there anything else of significance you can think of that may help, such as other installed software which may be interfering with Orca3D or any error messages which are displayed?

We would very much like to get to the bottom of this and any help you can provide to us is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

OK, thank you, that is very helpful. I am trying to set up an identical configuration where I can test this, and will keep you posted as I work on it.

Thanks for reporting the problem.

Hi, I just tried generating some stability output and also have this problem.  Indeed, its ORCA3d 1.1 with Rhino WIP 5 32 bit, running on Windows 7 64 bit.  No error message, just a blank report screen.  It comes up so fast that I think the calculations are not even running.

We have identified and fixed a number of issues in the current WIP with regard to displaying reports under Rhino 5 (both 32-bit and 64-bit). These will be fixed in the next WIP release.

This problem has been fixed, and will be available in the next WIP. We expect it to be ready very soon, and you should receive an email about it. Please keep an eye on our blog (www.orca3d.blogspot.com) or our website (www.orca3d.com) for an announcement.

Thanks,

Rhino 5 is a beta version and says to have the  final release next year.

As of now, I'm wondering if the issue involving orca3d plug-in has been resolved. Just wanna make sure before downloading.

Hello,

The current Orca3D WIP, version 1.2.1, should display reports (hydrostatics, powering and weight and cost, fine in Rhino 5. Please let us know if you find any reporting issues.

Regards,

Larry

Orca3D announced the release of a new Work-in-Progress (WIP) version of its Orca3D boat design solution. The new version (1.2.1) includes OrcaStraighten Points, a new command to place control points (or point objects) in a straight line in 3D, or in the 2D projection of a line.
