Hello forum,

As many of you I am a Mac user, I love it, unfortunately we know that Orca3D does not run over Mac, so I just want to share that I solved that problem using VirtualBox from Sun Microsistems.

I know that is not a native application as we like but, it really helps if you don't want to use BootCamp and restart your Mac, is totally free and there Rhino and ALL its plugins works perfect, of course Orca3D as well. Only disadvantage: does not work the sound cards, so if you love to listen music when you design just bring your MP3 player.

Also make sure to  install the "Guest additions" that is under devices tab.

I hope this info helps you,

Best regards.

Victor was kind enough to share a screen capture (attached) of some of the settings that he used on his implementation of VirtualBox on his Mac. We have not tested VirtualBox on a Mac, but we have tested it on a PC and it seems to run smoothly.

Hi,

Technically, running on Parallels or BootCamp is not a supported platform for Orca3D, however we do have users who have successfully used both programs, but there appears to be an issue using Parallels with Windows 7.

When Orca3D installs, it checks that support files are installed and if not tries to download them.  Is it possible your internet connection is being blocked during the install?  One other option is to download and install the necessary files before installing Orca3D.  The most common file missing is the Microsoft Report Viewer which is used to create reports in Orca3D.  You can download this file from Microsoft here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=3841

Please let us know if you continue to have problems.

Best Regards,

Justin
