hi
I hava a question about Hull assistant, knows it can preview hydrostatics when use assistant,
but can we define the float plane first?
cuz when useing assistant module,
the preview hydrostatics just show the conditions on the z=0 plane
if i want compare some similar ship's parameter(L/B disp./L ....etc.),
it is not convenient
cuz when click "create hull",after that,
the length,beam...etc must change by another way not use assistant module
I try to make another surface first, and define the design condition,
and use assistant to create another hull surface and preview hydrostatics,
but it still use z=0 plane as float plane
i think if we can define the plane first for real time hydrostatic check when useing hull assistant that will be good
or is there any methood to achieve that?

I always change the keel height@transom value and offset the other value,
ex : i want design waterline lay on the ship's 1 m position,
so i define the value of keel height@transom -1,and the Transom Deck Height 2m ,so that creat 3 m length of aft

thanks

Hi Horumbou,

As you have found, the hull assistants currently assume the z=0 plane represents the "design waterline". While there is no direct way to change the flotation plane used in the hull assistant hydrostatics, you should be able to achieve effectively the same thing by adjusting the vertical height values up or down effectively moving the geometry relative to the z=0 plane. For example, for the planing hull assistant, changing the values of "Deck Height@Bow", "Deck Height@Transom", "Chine Height @Bow", and "Keel Height@Transom" by the same amount moves the hull up or down. For the sailboat hull assistant, changing "Deck Height@Bow", "Deck Height@Transom", "Transom Height", and "Canoe Body Draft" by the same amount accomplishes the same thing.
