As a courtesy to RhinoMarine users, we will provide limited technical support
and replacement Site Keys, through the end of 2010. What do we mean by
"limited?" Basically, we will provide as much guidance as we can in the use of
the software, but since we do not have access to the source code, we cannot fix
any bugs or add any features. Some questions will be impossible to answer
without the source code, but we will do the best we can.
The information below is provided as a courtesy by DRS Defense Solutions
Advanced Technology Center (ATC), with the permission of Alion Science and
Technology, to those that have a RhinoMarine
license. RhinoMarine is a product of Alion Science and Technology, and the ATC
accepts no responsibility or liability for the accuracy or fitness of the software
or the information provided below.
On this page we will be documenting support issues that we see arising
repeatedly. Please read through these to see whether they will answer your
question. If not, please contact us at
Issue:
Running RhinoMarine on Windows Vista or Windows 7
or 64-bit operating systems
Description:
Having trouble getting RhinoMarine to run on Vista or
Windows 7 (32-bit or 64-bit)
Resolution:
Note: RhinoMarine was not developed as a native 64-bit application
for 64-bit operating systems, and will not be updated by the developer
for 64-bit operating systems. It will not run with the 64-bit version of
the Rhino 5 beta. If you would like to try to run RhinoMarine as a
32-bit application (with a 32-bit version of Rhino) on a 64-bit
operating system, or you are installing it on a 32-bit version of
Windows Vista or Windows 7, follow this guide.
First, you must install the latest version of
RhinoMarine (version 4.0.3; the installation file,
RhinoMarine4_setup.exe is 19,877 KB). If you do not have the
installation file, you may request it by emailing
rhinomarine@orca3d.com.
Follow these steps:
Before doing anything, make sure that you have Administrative
privileges.
If you have previously installed RhinoMarine, uninstall it using
Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs
Right-click on RhinoMarine4_setup.exe, and select "Run as
Administrator"
Follow the instructions to complete the installation.
The first time you run Rhino after installing RhinoMarine, right-click on the Rhino icon and
select "Run as Administrator."
RhinoMarine will now be running in a 15-day evaluation mode
Transfer your license from your previous computer; in the
RhinoMarine menu, select License, click on Move a License Between
Computers (complete instructions are given in the RhinoMarine Help,
which is available in the RhinoMarine menu).
If you cannot transfer your license, send an email to
rhinomarine@orca3d.com to request a new Site Key. You MUST
include your the Site Code from this computer (click on "Activate New License on
Local Computer") AND the list of modules that you have purchased
(Hydrostatics/Sections, Hull Design, Performance Analysis, Model
Management).
Issue:
Program crashes while a control point is being dragged with
dynamic sections turned on
Description:
If Rhinomarinedynamicsections is on (either through the
command line or the icon), and a control point is dragged, Rhino 4 will crash.
This behavior has been noted with Rhino 4 SR4, SR5, and SR6, and the Rhino 5 beta.
We have not tested to see if it occurs with earlier Service Releases of Rhino.
This error usually means that the Crypkey service isn't
running. First, check to see if it is, and if not, start it. Go to
Control Panel, then Administrative Tools, then Services, and you should
find "Crypkey License" in the list, and its status should be "Started."
If the service is running, it may be a permissions issue on the
RhinoMarine installation folder. Verify the following security settings
on the RhinoMarine installation directory: SYSTEM account and User have
FULL CONTROL access OR local everyone group has FULL CONTROL access.
